Planegg, July 1st, 2019
Brilliant record result - at the 13th INITIATIVE DO IT Golf Charity, 100,000 euros were pitched and putted in favour of vulnerable people and people with social needs and as well as for promotion of research to combat childhood cancer.
Under the motto "GOLF GOES BACK TO THE ROOTS", the INITIATIVE DO IT Golf Charity was held for the 13th time on June 29, 2019. This year on the well groomed fairways and greens of the golf club Hohenpähl - where the INITIATIVE DO IT Golf Charity history in 2007 began.
Guests and sponsors had in favor of the INITIATIVE DO IT and the Cura Placida - Foundation for Children with Cancer - supported by the ALR Treuhand in cooperation with the Rotary Club Munich Blutenburg achieve 100,000 euros net profit. The total net profit donation has thus risen to awesome 872,000 euros* since the golf charity premiere in 2007.
Exactly at 9.25 pm Ottmar Flach (CEO of INITIATIVE DO IT e.V.) and Stefan Denk (Partner ALR Treuhand) happily announced the record amount of donations and caused stormy applause among the guests.
"I am overjoyed and very grateful that we have achieved this unique donation sum of 100,000 euros with joint strength, passion and commitment. The benefit result underlines the importance of civic engagement. Last but not least, we are sending very strong, positive messages from Pähl. There is nothing better than going home with the feeling that so much good has been done on one evening. I would like to thank all our sponsors, partners and participants, because without them we would never have reached this record amount of donations," explained Ottmar Flach, Chairman of the Board of INITIATIVE DO IT e.V. "Over the years, a great community has formed here that looks forward to meeting once a year for a friendly and relaxed game. There are always new guests here who integrate immediately and feel in the best of hands," adds Ottmar Flach.
People in need will be supported through the projects "Herrschinger Tafel", "A better basis for students", "Children in Nepal", support of “all day classes” and the Children's Research Cancer project of the Cura Placida foundation.
Even though the idea of charity was in the foreground, the golf tournament itself was a complete success. Right from the start, the day promised to be a special one. The weather was very good, the ideal conditions for this year's INITIATIVE DO IT Golf Charity.
58 golf enthusiasts, friends of the INITIATIVE DO IT eV, strengthened themselves with a great breakfast that matched the motto "GOLF GOES BACK TO THE ROOTS", before they started to play golf.
Again, Texas Scramble was the game of choice on the perfectly manicured fairways and greens of the golf club Hohenpähl. For the participants from 28 different golf clubs, including the United States, Canada, South Korea and Japan, their common hobby was very beneficial for the immediate communication. The largest distance traveled two participants from Tokio (Japan) with 9,406 km.
The results of the tournament once again testify to the high level of our golfers. Gross winner with 41 points was the flight with Michael Denk (GC Tutzing), Christoph Littke (GC Konstanz), Michael Nusser and Moritz Nusser (both GC Tutzing). They achieved their third tournament title after 2016 and 2017.
Net winner with 66 points was the flight of Anne Eyb-Reuter (GC München-Eichenried), Regina Goerges-Radina (GC Urslautal), Marion Heitmüller (GC Starnberg) and Rosemarie Schlegtendal (GC Olching).
The special price “nearest-to-the pin” was awarded to Christian Flach with 2,50m. The special prize “Longest Drive” received on the gents side Klaus Eichler (GC Gerhelm) with 206m and Elisabeth Lörcher with 171m (GC Wörthsee) from the womens side.
"We both started our tournament series at the same time in 2007 on the beautiful golf course here in Hohenpähl. Therefore it was a common "BACK TO THE ROOTS" for all of us - and what a one! I would particularly like to thank Ralf and Ronny Büschl, who have been actively supporting children's cancer research for many years and have made a significant contribution to the overall success with a donation of 50,000 euros this year," commented Stefan Denk, co-organizer. "Ten years ago it was an excellent idea to merge our two tournaments for the benefit of INITIATIVE DO IT and children's cancer research into a joint charity. During our tournament, many new communities were formed and a feeling of friendship and togetherness developed. This is where people like to meet again and again from year to year. Cura Placida - the name is also the program of the foundation we support: Cura Placida means "gentle healing". Twelve years of support for children's cancer research show clear progress in the development of gentle treatment methods for a gentle cure. It is urgently necessary to continue to support the research efforts through private commitment - because large pharmaceutical companies have no interest in this. We thank all sponsors and donors from the bottom of our hearts for their generous help. Only thanks to their help can we continue to significantly support the Cura Placida Foundation together with the Rotary Club of Munich Blutenburg," continued Stefan Denk.
The prize draw was once again a highlight. The main prize was a 3-day trip for two to South Tyrol, in the four stars enjoyment hotel Tirolensis.
The edition 13 of the INITATIVE DO IT Golf Charity is history. Due to the great success and the positive feedback from the many donators and sponsors, the 14th edition of this charity golf tournament will be presented next year.
