Atlantik Elektronik accelerated this trend with innovative solutions in the area of LED, COB- and communication technology.

The embedded Ranger concept developed by Atlantik Elektronik allows users to profit from advanced technologies, provide lighting according to lighting scenarios, retrieve sensor data as well as control actuators or detect transponders.

Heart of this concept are a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller, ZigBee and WLAN modules, Bluetooth components as well as appropriate antenna technologies.

In the area of street lighting the communications gateway takes control functionality using GSM/GPRS or WLAN connectivity and manages or controls the connected street lights via the 2.4 GHz ZigBee wireless network (IEEE 802.15.4). Tasks such as remote diagnostics, data acquisition and control systems can be easily performed from anywhere.

By applying the RANGER concept to an indoor application the control of light elements and sensors, such as motion detectors and daylight sensors can be implemented. For this application the latest Bluetooth standard, BT Low Energy 4.0 is utilised. Each network node has a built-in BT low energy radio node.

Apps can be accessed via modern smartphones or tablet PCs that allow setting illumination profiles either automatically or manually. Easy operation, reliable communication and the use of commercial action and control elements are the essential characteristics.
